Title: Support to the Roma community for the New Year's Eve events.

Goal: To contribute to awareness rising on Roma education and improvement of living conditions of children of Roma community in Tirane .
Target: 100 Roma children of Tirane (3-14 years old).

Activity Description:
The Albanian Roma UNION Amaro-Drom, on 24 of December implemented in the best possible way all the activities regarding the project “Support to the Roma community for the New Year Eve's events”, in collaboration between The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and The Albanian Roma UNION on December 21 st , 2007.
The implementation of the activities has been realized from the collaboration of the Roma network in Tirana. After the entrance into force of the agreement, Amaro- Drom realized a meeting with the representatives of Roma Organizations; Ms. Meleqe Rrenja (Gruaja e se Nesermes), Mr. Xheladin Taco (Rromano Kham), Mr. Kujtim Zelia (representative of “Josif Pashko”, Laprake area), Mr. Pellumb Furtuna (Rromani Baxt Albania).
In this meeting was discussed and decided about the criteria of the beneficiary children.
The beneficiary children belong to categories of families which live under extreme poverty, very bad living conditions and who are in risk to drop out of school. Some of them are orphans; some are abandoned from their families. The beneficiaries were balanced distinguished from different neighborhoods of Tirane : Laprake, Kinostudio, Breg-lumi, Selite, Lagja nr.20 (rr. Jordan Misja).The network took the responsibility to prepare groups of representative kids during the show that performed songs, rimes, dancing etc.

The show initiated at 10: oo and finished at 12: oo of the morning as it was planed, placed at the National Museum .
Mr. Skender Veliu, director of the Albanian Roma UNION Amaro-Drom welcomed all the participants; he expressed all the best wishes for all the Roma children of the world, and showed gratitude in the name of the children and the Roma Network towards Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, for the financial support to this activity and other initiatives they have implemented in the past for the development and integration of Roma Community of Albania .
The Amaro-Drom working group prepared all the decorations of the activity room. The Roma network representatives attended all the time the kids, but they were supported also by their parents which participated all the time the activity. For an hour and half, there were the kids who took the control of the situation. They performed different songs, rhymes, and it was very beautiful to see them how happy they looked.
Then the most exciting part of the show was when all the kids under the rhythm of the roma music danced together.
At the final part of the show all the participants took a gift which was prepared from the Amaro-Drom staff with care.
Then, children and parents participated in the cocktail organized for them.
Project objectives and result attendance:
• Organize a show for 100 Roma kids;
• Bye and distribute the gifts for the kids during the show;
The celebration of the New Year Eve's events, valued as a factor that would have important impact to the expectative and the willingness of educational process attendance, from Roma parents and the Roma network, realized its short-term objectives.
These children were very happy; they experienced the feelings that every children of the world does.
It gave to these Roma parents the facilitation of non feeling bad for not having al least for one day the possibility to bye to their children a gift.
It was also an activity that gave more impulses to these Roma children for the future attendance of the education, children and parents expressed it during and after the show. So we can see some qualitative long-term indicators realized.
The activity was introduced in different TV stations such as: TVA1, Ora News, TVA, News 24, TV Tirana, TV Kombi,
The activity was implemented successfully regarding the objectives described in the agreement.
